Spring has sprung and Verne and his friends awake to find half the forest has gone! Their land has been developed, and the residents of El Rancho Camelot Estates want things to be perfect, and have built a hedge to keep the animals out!

The animals survival is at stake!

As Verne and his friends stand in wonder and fear at the hedge they meet RJ the raccoon. RJ takes life, and everything else, as it comes!

He explains that the world beyond the hedge is the "gateway to the good life", where peculiar creatures called humans live to eat, rather than eat to live.
