`Pssst,' whispered God. `Look towards the setting sun.
There is something in the distance – a creature still to corne.'
Adam looked and sure enough he saw a sort of lump.
`No need to wait for that,' he said. `It's just a crawling bump.'
`Bumps don't crawl,' God murmured, as Adam turned to go.
`That's still a living creature, even if it's rather slow.'
And Adam got the message. It was up to him to care.
How long the creature took to corne was neither here nor there.
The crawling bump came creeping on, slow but full of purpose,
And Adam waited patiently to tell it, `You're a TORTOISE.'
And then he said to God: `I'm glad I didn't go away.'
And God said: `So am I, Adam. You've done good work today.'
