| Joseph's
heart filled with pity,
for the beggar looked haggard and ill,
so he gave him his cloak with its woollen
fleece
to keep out the bitter chill.
The beggar took
the cloak gladly
and our traveller went on his way
with his gold and his sword, riding
Marvel the horse,
who still had nothing to say.
Then into the
lane rushed a farmer.
He raced out, with a cry of alarm,
`I've lost all my grain! My children
will starve!
Lightning's set fire to my barn!'
Again, Joe was
moved to pity.
He knew children need to be fed,
so he gave the farmer his purse full
of gold.
`Use this,' he said `to buy bread.'
